The Coming Era of Peace: Marian Apparitions Predicting Our Times

It’s no secret that we are living in tumultuous times. As a lay Catholic, you may feel like you’re living out the book of Revelation, but are we actually in the End Times? Is there any information out there, besides the Bible and writings of the saints, to help us prepare for what lies ahead?

In The Coming Era of Peace: Marian Apparitions Predicting Our Times, Dr. David Smithson examines Church-approved Marian apparitions that contain messages for the days we are living in. God chose to give us his Son through the Blessed Virgin Mary, and in this book, Dr. Smithson discusses how God is now using the Blessed Mother to give the faithful messages from heaven. These Marian apparitions may have occurred centuries or decades ago, yet they contain information for those of us living right now.

If the Mother of God has spoken to us, shouldn’t we be listening?

The Parable of White Fang

This book builds on the adventuresome classic dog story White Fang and turns it into a spiritual parable of human faith.  It utilizes symbolism in comparing the journey of a dog (wolf/dog) raised in the wild, gradually becoming a tamed, loving member of a human household with a human being, gradually growing in holiness and becoming a loving member of God’s household (heaven).  There are unique parallels and insights and deeply moving imagery in this story of love between not only mankind and dog but also mankind and God.

“I loved it! I absolutely love it! I think about it a lot! I want to share this imagery with others …”
---- Fr. Lou Farley, Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph
“Wow, this is an incredibly powerful reflection! Jack London’s story is brought to a deep and moving level … The references to St. Paul, Moses, Job, Blessed Mother Mary, and other Biblical characters will invite … The parallel union between God/man and man/dog is captured well ... This book is … sincere and will touch many readers…”
---- Fr. Don Farnan, Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph
“It was very good. Utilizing the White Fang bio as a kind of parable for discipleship is very clever, sure to be appreciated by dog lovers…”
---- Fr. Charles Rowe, Vicar General, Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph

Prayer or Mantra?

What happened in Jesus’ brain when he prayed? Is “nonreligious” meditation really nonreligious?

It is with these intriguing questions that David Smithson begins a thought-provoking examination of the contrasts and connections between Christian prayer and eastern meditation. In Prayer or Mantra? A Contrast Between Christian Prayer and Eastern Meditation, Smithson – a physician in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation – delivers not a definitive treatise on meditation and prayer, but an enthralling book that will challenge readers to consider a new way of connecting scientific findings to spiritual concepts.

In this deftly written text, you’ll discover:

  • The newly emerging discipline of neurotheology, which examines the origins of spiritual experiences within the brain
  • What happens when one prays in the Christian sense versus meditating in the eastern sense
  • How the issue of “personhood” is a critical point of differentiation between Christian and eastern views
  • If prayer and meditation are actually good for one’s health
  • What events brought about the eastern invasion of transcendental meditation in the 1960s
  • Whether eastern meditation is actually a type of “high”
  • The relationship of Christian meditation to Christian prayer
“Dr. David Smithson offers an intriguing study about man’s relentless search for meaning. By relating the spiritual to the workings of the brain, Dr. Smithson takes us on a provocative journey that probes the difference between prayer and meditation providing a thought-provoking and daring read.”
